REPLY from Healthspan concerning gluten-free vitamins, etc

Healthspan have replied to my query as to which of their products were gluten-free. They have also kindly passed on my letter which also requested that they please indicate gluten-free on their packaging. I also added that they might like to consider contacting Coeliac UK with a view to may be having their goods added to the Directory of safe products.

Here is their response so far - I have added a snap-shot of the reply and will let you all know if I get a further response from them.

Firstly, we must inform you that we are not medically trained at Healthspan. Please check compatibility with your GP or Pharmacist if you are taking any prescription medication.

We can confirm that all of our supplements are gluten free with the exception of the Hair and Nail formula due to it's wheatgerm oil content.

We have passed your request onto our Product Development and Marketing teams for their future considerations.

Just to add a little extra note: Healthspan send a monthly magazine to you if you request it. It is packed full of information regarding health problems and how to address them. I'm an avid reader of information regarding health and there is usually several articles with all of the latest research and information in the magazine. Well fingers crossed on this one Fiona. There are so many other companies that need to be approached. It's the only way we will be able to have a positive and varied choice of products.

word of caution I have just checked the list of ingredients for Vitamin B complex on healthspans website and they contain maltodextrin which is a wheat based product and this may cause concern for individuals who suffer from gluten intolerance! Healthspan need to double check their list of ingredients on all their products!

Hi Lynxcat and mariadp, just wanted to update this post as I work at Healthspan and have some more info... Our range now includes a few more gluten products, so the full list includes: Hair and Nail formula, Skin Nutrition, Super 20 Pro, Protein Crisp bars and our Protein Complete soup products all now include gluten.

Mariadp, if it helps our Maltodextrine is corn based and therefore suitable for those with a gluten intolerance

We are working on making such info clearer on site (I know at the moment it's difficult as our GF symbol currently stands for gelatin free and not the usual gluten free) so watch this space.
