I have been on a gluten free diet for over 3 years now. Do I need to be eating gluten if I am to be tested for Hashimotos?

Smashing, thanks for this - I have just found out that my nan had this, but could not face the problems I would get by eating gluten again.

I have both. NHS doesn't generally test for Hashimotos as they don't want to pay to test for the antibodies. They tend to just test your tsh level (cheap test) and decide that whether your Hypothyroid or not.

I was hypoT for years then did my own blood test to ascertain i had hashimoto's; as a result i was able to self diagnose with several associated conditions and diseases the nhs had missed for years: coeliac, pernicious anaemia, pancreatic insufficiency, etc.
