Glare from screens.

I only have one eye, & have had a new lens fitted in the other one, I have a serious amount of Glaucoma with only about 25% vision left. Things are so bright that I can hardly see a computer monitor or TV screen, I have dark lenses, but they only decrease the glare for about a minute. Has anyone e come across this problem, & resolved it.Regards.

Hi

Have you tried adjusting your computer monitor to dark mode - ie white font on black background.

Some websites have a setting so you can change it for that particular site, otherwise you can change your settings for all.

White dog, thanks for the reply, i do use dark mode on computers, tablets, & phones. But it is the Tv that seems to be the real problem. i have been reading articles about this problem, & am now experimenting with lowering the Brightness & contrast. It seems to improve thinhs, but i will know more once it gets dark, as this seems to be the worst time,

As my sight is deteriorating rapidly I now understand why people find sunspec tints. Surely reduced sight means more light is needed? Yes, to illuminate things, but as in lay terms I feel I am viewing as throgh misty glass (i.e. having reduced contrast acuity) then everything seems too white, particularly the sky or any predominantly white screen. Yet when visual acuity is checked in clinic with a high contrats Snellen chart one is judged to be performing OK, and the concept of the "misty glass" does not seem to be recognised. Am I unusual in my observations? I hope to raise this tonight at the GUK zoom meeting - have you registered yet ?

I have not regisrered for the meeting you mention, as I had not heard about it, but I will now look it up. Your symptoms are the same as mine, & are not being listened to, as they do not recognise them outside of the tests carried out. Next time I am examined I will be more insistent about it, as I now know there is someone else, who is suffering this frustration as well.

Regards

Hi there. We would recommend speaking to your consultant about being referred to the low vision clinic at your hospital for an assessment. They can help to provide low vision aids, or guid you appropriately. It might also be good for you to speak to the RNIB for things to help with this.
