Thank goodness that the clinical guidance on use of Buscopan seems to have been updated. I had a colonoscopy a couple of years ago and it was one of the most traumatic procedures I’ve ever had a the medics refused to let me have Buscopan prep, which relaxes smooth muscle. Yesterday I had a CT scan which also requires Buscopan and the radiographers were knowledgeable about the different types of glaucoma. The irony is that people diagnosed with POAG and on medication are less likely than others to experience a problem. I do think though that there does need to be better guidance for anyone getting the drug that they can develop symptoms of closed angle gaucoma afterwards.

I just use colpermin now as I'm too scared
I rarely use it for IBS as it makes me feel a bit weird. But glad it’s available where necessary for necessary tests and interventions, where healthcare staff are present. That said, I think a card to take away afterwards would be a great idea, as some who develop problems will have no idea they were prone to narrow angle glaucoma.
I take 20ug vitamin D which prevents my IBS cramps.
