Large floater

Last few months I see a large black crescent , hook like shape( just like amazon prime logo) when waking up every morning. It disappears immediately but when I blink again I can see the exact shape. As day goes by, it tends to fade away but still there, just not as clear as morning. I mentioned my optician but she is not worried.

I'm 70 years old , diagnosed with NTG in June. This large floater happens in my glaucoma eye.

Has anyone have similar experience?

Do you know what your 'fly' is?

Hi

Yes I have it.

Posterior vitreous detachment - when gel starts pulling away from the retina as you age. It's noted on my records that a weiss ring is visible - it's like a circular clump.

It used to drive me nuts but have got used to it over time. Most noticeable when I'm looking at my laptop screen but not so much when I'm out and about.

Think I have it in the other eye too but am too blind in that eye to see it now.

Many thanks for your reply! I did google and thought It might be PVD. Does it have anything to do with glaucoma? Should I see specialist ?

It's just that the gel becomes more watery with age. Not related to glaucoma. I have it in my left and only have glaucoma in my right.

You could get your regular optometrist to have a look if you're concerned. More so if you see flashing lights or if it suddenly gets much worse - like a shower of it.

Normally the gel just pulls away without affecting the retina.
