Anxious that GP has changed my prescription

My consultant prescribed me Trusopt, Monopst, tiopex

GP practise advised me they were changing trusopt single dose unit to Dorzolamide multi dose bottle ( due to cost )

The pharmacy was unable to get hold of dorzolamide, so had to contact GP who prescribed trusopt

Today I phoned pharmacy if my prescription is ready to be told the GP has prescribed Vizador multi dose bottle

Concerned that he’s prescribed something that consultant isn’t aware of and is it the same as the trusopt

Would you advise ringing the consultants secretary

Hi

I've had a search and it looks like Vizidor is just a different brand name so you should be fine with it.

Hello. Vizador is another branded dorzolamide and it is often prescribed. I am sure the consultant will not have any issues with you using it.

If you feel you will have trouble squeezing the bottle, there is a dispensing aid designed specifically for multidose bottle which have a small blister/dot in the middle rather than a spout. I have attached a link to our website for you in case you want to order one. All of our dispensing aids are free but the maximum you can order is two.

I checked with consultant and she said the same that it is fine

I was just anxious as have just had cataract and stent surgery and wanted to make doubly sure

When I had eye surgery some time ago now, I was given trusopt single dose eye drops from the hospital dispensary. My GP later altered this to a multi-dose bottle. I pointed out that, as I have to administer the drops myself, I have to feel where the nozzle is before squeezing the bottle, and I suggested that this may cause infection, especially as the bottle was supposed to last 4 weeks (which it never did, as it's difficult to tell if 1 drop has been used, or more). The GP accepted my argument, and I now get single-dose plastic dispensers in packs of 60 (twice daily, one eye only) which last 30 days.

Not what you're looking for?
