Aching eye

Hi,

I have ocular hypertension which I’ve had treated 2x with SLT, the latest time was 4 weeks ago.

Since yesterday morning my left eye has been aching. Should I get it checked out or is it not usual to have aching with high pressures?

Thanks

Mel x

I’d get it checked out, better safe than sorry.

Good Sunday morning, Mel. It could be nothing but OHT and a recent SLT, which sometimes actually raises IOP because of inflammation (though not usually for this long after).? Pressure high enough to cause ache or pain is never "normal" ! I would be safe and seek immediate advice. On Sunday ? Huh! first call your hospital eye clinic, if no response go to A&E; you may find you are passed on to the nearest eye A&E 50 miles away so take a sandwich. Good luck!

Thanks all. I did get it checked out and my pressures had dropped. I have an opticians appointment today too to have a more thorough check to make sure there's nothing going on.

Hi

Glad to hear your pressures dropped. How did your opticians appt go?

I know, from experience, that a heavy, dull ache can signal high pressures and that an odd sunken feeling can mean they're very low - or even zero - as mine once were after a trab!

Optician was really good. Did imaging and pressures. They were only 16 and 17 which is much lower than pre SLT (25+). He was happy with images too. Said if I’m worried again to contact hospital as they will probably see me quickly.

I had slt which i wish i hadnt as had to go back on Monopost. my right eye after about couple months was really aching . Went back to see Mr Alaghaband & took me off drops for a break - went back after couple months ache eased, pressure 20 said he was happy with that &still off drops but have to go back Nov time. Highest my pressures had been pre slt & drops were 25.

I just hope when I go back all ok & havent got Glaucoma !!!

I do find things not fully explained generally .

Hope you ok.

It’s the 2nd time I’ve had it without any problems. The aching has gone now and the optician was happy with pressures and images to hopefully all is ok now.
