I live in Glasgow. I informed the DVLA I had been diagnosed with glaucoma. I have received a letter telling me my nearest Specsavers who can do the test are either in Woking, Godalming or Nottingham !!

surely there is a branch in Scotland?

why not ring one of the Glasgow specsavers to ask where they do it in Scotland.

Also you could email the dvla glaucoma help desk email GlaucomaQueries@dvla.gov.uk

Probably no one at DVLA in Cardiff knows where Glasgow is!

I live in Dunblane and get my tests done at Specsavers, Stirling. I believe there are at least two branches in Glasgow area but don't know if they do DVLA tests. I would imagine at least one would.

They have it wrong ask them for another list including only Glasgow Specsavers in your area. They have a data problem. Interesting to see if anyone else has the same problem.

Wow, I don't have a Specsavers in my local town either the nearest ones for me are 60 miles round trip in either direction from my home, and I am not sure whether they have right equipment for me, I was lucky when I was diagnosed because I was able to have the test in my local opticians now sadly Specsavers are the only they can do it and even then they have to have the right equipment to do, it not right, I was lucky that I have my driving licence back with no restrictions as well until I am 70 and that is 7 years off thank goodness or my eyesight changes and things might of changed by then anyway, best wishes to you hope you find somewhere near and good luck

hi There are several in the Glasgow area. I went to the one in Sauchiehall Street but there was also one at the Fort , Clydebank and in Milngavie.

A couple of things to consider some of them have the Humphrey machine which is the same as the one in the hospital but a couple have a different machine.

I didn’t have a great experience in the Specsavers in Sauchiehall Street initially as it was a young boy who was going to do the Visual Fields test. He had Stylist on his T-shirt. I heard someone saying to him ‘Have you done this before!?’ And she then explained what he had to do!!

I asked a lot of questions… should I wear my glasses etc. I was very anxious! So they said they would get the Optometrist to do the test!! She was good and very reassuring.

So my advice would be… make sure you are comfortable with the set up before starting! You do get three attempts but it’s very stressful! Too important to have it conducted by someone who is not trained!

Not what you're looking for?
