I’ve just had my DVLA official field test & can’t remember the last time I’ve felt so anxious. I had several misses on each of the four tests that I was allowed (three with glasses and one without). Those of you who have taken the test and were allowed to carry on driving – how many misses did you have?
And if DVLA says you must stop driving, do you get the letter back from them more quickly than if they allow you to carry on?

I forgot to add that before she administered the test, the assistant at Specsavers told me that people were waiting for up to 3 months for their results, but when she did the eye test. The optician told me to expect a letter from DVLA in one to two weeks time. I’m afraid she would be able to tell that I have failed.
Were the conditions conducive to your best performance - ie quiet; was the chin rest in the right place; and were you told to blink? I was recalled twice, so have been through the test on 3 separate occasions, but my problem was giving false positives.
It might be worth you paying for a private test to see if the results concur.
They were quick in notifying me that I'd failed FVT, think it was about week to 10 days.
Missed 20 on test so consequently lost my licence, going to appeal it but having issue getting eye clinic appointment with consultant at hospital, past 2 appointments have been cancelled.
Been doing eye training exercises since losing licence, sure they have helped but will only know when doing that dreaded Specsavers VFT again.
Hi. I am still waiting for my results of mine. The test was over three weeks ago and my existing licence expires early next month. As for the field test, they let me keep my glasses on and use both eyes at the same time. I’ve never had that before. Three years ago they tested one eye at a time. Not sure how it went for me but I only did the field test once. The difference between the testing opticians seems really unfair.
I totally understand your anxiety and I feel similar myself. Best of luck for a great outcome for you (and me)!!
