Normal Tension Glaucoma.

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with suspected Normal Tension Glaucoma. I’ve been prescribed Monopost Eye drops, single use one drop each eye per night. These seem to be giving me slight headaches around the eye and forehead. Has anyone any knowledge of NTG and Monopost Eye drops. please?

I was diagnosed with Ntg in Feb this year and was prescribed Monopost. Slight headaches for a few weeks which have stopped. I read your earlier post which mentioned migraine. I had migraines around the time of my pregnancies 40 years ago but in the last few years I’ve had migraine auras about 3/4 times a year. I noticed that I haven’t had any so far this year and wondered about the glaucoma and eye drops connection. From what I’ve read on this forum the advantage of monopost is that it’s preservative free so it may be worth looking through other posts on here to see the experience of others.

Thank you for your reply. Hopefully these mild headaches will stop like yours. I had awful Migraines since childhood but thankfully as I reached middle age they changed and I just get the aura now. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and have my eyes screened every year they spotted something was wrong but not to do with Diabetes. Thanks again for your help.

I've used them regulatrly for two years with no problems

Thanks for your reply. Do you have Normal Tension Glaucoma? Hope they work. There seems to be some connection between Migraine and NTG.

My consultant asked me if I suffered from migraines or raynauds , as she said there was a link to NTG due to poor blood flow

You have me thinking now because I’ve developed what I thought was a bad sinus, over one eye only, that comes on during the nights, most days. I’d put it down to an allergy but at age 77 I’ve lived my life allergy-free.

As it’s not every day, and I use Monopost each evening, I wonder if there’s a link.

Thanks for your reply. The slight headaches are over my eyes, they came on when I started the Monopost drops about three weeks ago. It does mention in the patient leaflet that one of the side effects is headache but it is uncommon. I will mention the headaches to the Consultant when I see him in a two weeks time. Best wishes.
