I am 3 months in from having the aqueous preserflo shunt in both eyes and although they took what felt like a heck of a long time to heal, they have and vision has near enough come back, my eyes just don't seem to open as wide as they used to. Very noticeable on pictures etc and now darker around eyes. Will this go or will it now stay like this. Has anybody had similar please?

I’ve had a shunt inserted and unfortunately there can be a tendency for the eyelid to be pulled down further than may be considered normal, as the shunt is tucked away under the eyelid.
Is that what you mean when you say your eyes don’t appear to open as wide as they used to?
Your consultant will be able to confirm but congratulations anyway; recovery can seem to take forever and it looks like you’re doing really well!
Hi bec8891 my eyes are just the same they wont open fully they feel like small peas in a pod but ive had more operations on them than i care to remember about my sight is like looking through steamed up glasses its a nightmare
I think you are describing eyelid ptosis (or droopy eyelid in layman's terms). That can be a side effect of the surgery mainly because they use this eyelid speculum to keep the eye open and can cause some overstretching of the eyelid muscle and tendons. My surgeons told me that this could happen and there is a procedure (blepharoplasty) that could fix it. However, they told me to wait at least 6-7 months post-op before I go for it, because usually the eyelids bounce back, but it takes time.
Regarding the dark colour, are you still using anti-pressure eye drops, like prostaglandins? It could be a side effect of those.
