Hi. I recently (3 weeks ago) Had a micro shut opp under general. Ever since then I have been having vertigo attacks with nausea and vomiting. I have had them in the past not for 5 years and then years between attacks. Now I have them daily and more. I have been prescribed Prochlorperazine 3 times a day but it still affects me. Has anybody had this too and how did they stop it? Any suggestions will be gratefully welcomed.

Microshunt problems and Virtigo
Hello PeteJones,
Does your eye surgeon know about the continued unpleasant vertigo etc ?
Could it be the G.Anaesthetic or the post op eye medication causing these problems ?
Have you checked in the patient advice leaflets for possible side effects ( inside the boxes.)
I tend to get all sorts of side effects from medicines and have a long list of things to avoid. Often it is allergies to the preservative or 'fillers'.
Having had 2 shunts I did not have your problems but I did have strange distorted vision in one eye , luckily only lasting days.
In this warm weather do try and stay well hydrated , perhaps by taking small frequent drinks and small plain meals.
Hope you soon improve.
Best wishes.
Hello PeteJones
I wonder if you have investigated BPPV which can cause vertigo and maybe this has occurred during the positioning of your head during the surgery.
You can treat this with specific maneuvers as on this link webmd.com/brain/home-remedi....
A relative has recently cured their unexplained vertigo by using the Eply maneuver, this was after months of medications and investigations by their GP.
