How does the DVLA decide on the medical license, i received the questionnaire, but up till now, they have not sent me to space saver to do a visual field test. Do they make their decision based on the questionnaire, my GP and consultant alone
Medical Questionnaire: How does the DVLA decide... - Glaucoma UK
Medical Questionnaire
Mine was due Dec 2021....it finally came through in July 2022 - which was more than 3 months since the last Field Test in April so was disallowed. Test was failed and have been gathering evidence to send in with Challenge since then...finally sent all off in March this year - last Field Test 31 January - heard nothing yet and so will soon be out of time on that again! It is like banging your head against a brick wall! Nothing is done - seems many still working from home...and they are on strike for a day again this week...no-one will notice!
DVLA sent me the forms, asking for details of my conditions, GP, specialist etc and I completed and returned them a couple of days later. (The delay was due to my having to get a new photo). It was a month before I heard back from them and they sent me the dreaded command “go to Specsavers “. Needless to say, I was disappointed and, on the day before my test and the morning of the test, I had an upset tummy. It appears that this didn’t hamper my performance, though, as a week later, I got my new licence. Only for three years, but they all are, once you’ve reach 70. I don’t believe they contacted my specialist as, when I saw him in February, he told me not to worry about the VFT, as my eyesight was fine for driving. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get a positive answer soon.
