BLURY EYE.

Hello.

I have had primary angle closure glaucoma in my right eye and primary angle closure in my left eye since 2015. Because I have some bad news in the family that makes me cry a lot, almost every day, and now my eyes are so blurry, I wonder if crying makes my glaucoma eye worsen, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello there, sorry to hear of your situation. Following a recent bereavement I asked my consultant exactly that question and he assured me that crying did no harm. I hope that is some comfort.

I am sorry about your bad news. You probably have dry eyes because of crying.. Try some eye lubricants and they should help. If you are still worried, try to book an eye appointment to your closer optometrist, just to check the eye pressure.

Hi Shrimpaki, thank you for your reply, I have been using Hy-lo tear seven times a day, but still no help and my next appointment will be mid May ,so I don't know should I push for an early one or not?

Does the blurriness fluctuate? Usually, it's dry eyes if it does. You might also notice that it gets worse at a particular time of the day, e.g., in the evening. You might also need different eye drops or an ointment or a combination of these.

Do you have other symptoms like pain in the eye, or seeing rainbow halos around lights? You can check the latter by looking at a light bulb or turning on the torch on your mobile and look at it. If yes, then it's good to have somebody check your eye pressure as soon as possible.

When I was in a similar situation with you, I booked the earliest available appointment in Specsavers or Boots to check my pressure. Just to let you know they don't check just the pressures, even if you ask them specifically for this. They follow their protocol religiously and do the complete eye exam.

Why don't you call your local hospital eye clinic and describe your symptoms? They should have an urgent department. That was what I also tried back then.

Please keep in mind that I am not a doctor, but a patient, and these are things that I did or worked for me.

Hope you feel better soon!
