Going for trabs

I'm going for trabs op at the end of December, I'd like to find a buddy to ask a few questions about their experience, especially aftercare. It turns out I also have dry AMD. Anybody else with both AMD and glaucoma?

I’m not the best buddy as my experience hasn’t been great and I’m still going g through my trab journey. However, happy to answer questions or concerns you have. Please PM me any time. Good luck with your surgery and hope you find a buddy soon x

Hi BlueMarina. We do a Buddy Service here at Glaucoma UK, if you would like to speak to someone who has had a trab, we do have quite a few people who would be willing to speak to you on the phone. We may or may not be able to buddy you with someone who has dry AMD as well but we will try our best. Let me know by calling the Helpline on 01233 648170 if this is something you would like us to arrange.

I am currently seeing the hospital for raised eye pressure/future glaucoma and possible wet amd. Two separate departments which don't seem to interact at all. This is all new to me and a bit frightening. I had a diabetic eye test two years ago and the possible amd was identified and subsequently raised eye pressure, particularly in left eye where the amd is. This is currently being monitored which is entailing hospital visits every few months now. I had a pvd in both eyes a few years ago and was shortsighted from the age of 10 and now wearing varifocals. My left eye seems to be the problem at the moment. I am 72. I don't really understand what is happening

I know. It’s all very confusing. Perhaps try to get a second opinion. Or a third. I had trabeculectomy a month ago. It seems like it’s going well.
