Hi folks.
I’m about to be booked for cataract removal with lens exchange as well as Kahook Dual Blade goniotomy. Has anyone else already had this done ?
Many thanks.
Hi folks.

Yes I had it done about 3 months ago. Pressure in that eye was 33 but vision perfect. I was very nervous about the procedure but it was just a bit like going to the dentist....no actual pain. This is a minimally invasive procedure and I felt lucky to be offered it.
Multiple drops for 6 weeks afterwards..... alarms on your phone are helpful..... frequent follow-up too. One week later pressure was actually higher, and two weeks later. The thought was that it was the steroid drops causing this so they were tailed off more rapidly. Third follow up pressure 27. Awaiting further follow up this Friday but in the meantime I was told to get my eyes tested at the optician. Again perfect vision and pressure 18.
Just hoping that was accurate reading and that's what it is on Friday.
Then hoping to have the other eye done soon where the pressure is 23.
Thanks for the reply stones93, it's put my mind at rest a bit. It's always good to talk to someone who has had the experience. Hope all goes well on Friday, keep me posted if you'd be so kind ? My pressures are consistent at 21 and although there's no damage I've been on drops for over 30 years which, even though they're now preservative free, are making my eyes sensitive and sore hence the surgery.
I also had problems with most of the drops causing respiratory side effects.... I have asthma and bronchiectasis and this was all made worse. Only one type of drop was side effect free for me and that was the least effective. So this was also a contributing factor to having the surgery.
follow up today.... happy to say pressure in operated eye 16, no signs of post-op inflammation. Although pressure in other eye is 23, it's stable and the nerve thinning is minimal. My visual fields and vision are perfect and the cataract is not yet a problem so the agreed decision is to leave this eye for the time being and monitor things 6 monthly.I'm very happy with this.
So the message for you is: don't be afraid of the surgery and if at first the results don't seem great 3 months down the line they may well be.
Very many thanks for the update and glad all is well for you. Thanks for the advice too 😊
