Glaucoma and breast cancer

Hello

I wondered if anyone on here is or has been taking the hormone drug tamoxifen? I currently take two lots of eye drops for glaucoma, have had three trabs in the past and in May 2021 a Baerveldt shunt implant.

After I recently started the tamoxifen drug I feel that I’m experiencing sore eyes (more so than usual) and wondered if it might be this?? Thank you 🙂

Hello Euphor, I have just looked at the Patient Information leaflet and it does mention swelling of optic nerve as one of the rare side effects.

I recommend that you call the eye secretary to make the consultant aware. If the soreness becomes worse, please don't leave it visit the eye clinic A & E if they have one or the A & E inself.

Hello Euphor. I am on Anastrozol for last 8 years, I have been on Timolol and Latanaprost for even longer than that. But I have not had surgery yet so I am sorry I am not able to help with any information. But I have just been put on waiting list to have preserflo surgery as all the drops have been unsuccessful in bringing pressure down. I am dreading this surgery. Will update all once I have had the surgery done. Sorry not i am much help to you.

Hi Amjan. Thank you for your reply, I hope the surgery goes well for you. I had a Baerveldt shunt eye implant in May 2021, then breast tumour removal in November 2021 😵‍💫 My eye surgery took a couple of month to settle but it has been doing well since

Thank you Euphor. It's very assuring to know you are now doing well and the surgery was successful. I am booked fro my presserflo surgery on 5th September, I am dreading it. I have asked for general enesthtic as I am so petrified. I am just hoping for the best.

I’m sure you will be absolutely fine but I do understand the nerves. I also had a general anaesthetic and that was somuch better than when I was awake for the needling surgery I had a few months earlier 🙂 it will be over before you know it.

Hi Euphor, I'm new to this forum and eye condition, but thought I'd just let you know I've been on Tamoxifen for 11 years and have been on Monoprost for a month and so far am okay, but may be early days. Good luck with the Tamoxifen and your eye condition.

Thank you for your reply. It’s very reassuring to find another person who is managing with the same drugs 🙂. I also take Azopt and Monoprost 🤞🏻🤞🏻
