My right eye is also my worst and my best advice is if you notice any difference & change in your vision - get it checked out without haste.
Are you under the care of an eye consultant? You could phone your eye clinic and speak to one of the nurses or, phone your local optician (specsavers are mine) for an emergency triage appointment. Specsavers email my eye clinic when I go in for appointments and I usually hear from them within a day or two if there's something they need to check up on.
I was really worried about my right eye last week and got an appointment at specsavers that evening and it was a huge reassurance that my pressure was just fine!
Are you on medication for it?
I agree with LyndzeyMoo. Best to get it checked out. They should be able to adjust treatment ( add drops/laser/surgical opcians) to treat pressures and protect your sight worsening. I too have pretty severe damage to my right eye but this is because COVID delayed my diagnosis and the consultants team have worked hard to get my pressures down and reduce risks. For various reasons I've also been back and forward to eye casualty and would say never be afraid to get in touch with them if you are concerned/ experience symptoms. I'd also recommend watching the Glaucoma UK webinars as they are very informative and consistently give out the message that there is always something they can do to treat what I've discovered is a challenging and complex condition. The RNIB are also great and have loads of resources including counselling
Hi. You are not alone with how you are feeling, as everyone on this forum will know. You will get a lot of support from these lovely people, from their own experiences. The other support will come from the eye staff at the hospital.
Find out all you can about your glaucoma from them. Ask to have your visual field test explained and what type of glaucoma you have, if you are not already aware. Ask about treatment available going forward. Some times if you understand your glaucoma and the treatment plan for you, it can help you cope a little better.
I am guessing that you have attended an eye clinic appointment and told that your eye pressure has increased. I am sure further treatment has been suggested to you to lower the pressure.
Please do call us on the Helpline 01233 648170 if you would like to talk about your anxieties further. We are here for you for that very reason.
Hi Radio_Head77! I can see from your profile that you’ve been on drops since 2010 and have had laser treatment and that there’s been a change in your vision that has upped your diagnosis to glaucoma. What has your consultant said they plan to do to get the pressure down? Has your vision subjective or has the deterioration been confirmed objectively by fields or scans? Maybe more info needed for us to advise. 👍🏻 I’ve lost vision in my right eye too due to POAG with regular disc bleeds. My IOPs have been hard to control. I have to manage my growing anxiety that my vision is deteriorating faster than my consultant can stay ahead of. I worry too! 🫤
Tell your GP your fears. By the way, how do you know if the pressure is raised, if it hasn't been tested. Ask you GP if he will refer you to a hospital, with a proper eye team.
I was referred to a cowardly piece of inadequacy. He kept changing eydrops and the pressure kept rising. One day he told me to go to the hospital as an emergency. That's where I learnt that a simple timely operation could have saved my sight.
The dirty piece of filth took a job he was incapable of fulfilling; was too cowardly to admit he was out of his depth; he stole my eye and got away with it, because he was passing himself off as a doctor.
At the first signs of inadequacy, report him to the health Trust and the police (for failing to comply with legislation)
