Hi! Yes, me! Migraines with auras since I was 14. POAG diagnosed in 2018 with vision loss central right eye and left peripheral loss. My consultant doesn’t think it’s linked to my glaucoma.

I try not let them scare me any more but the auras even after 45yrs still freak me out. I lose most of my vision totally for between 20 mins and an hour. Each time my aura happens I always think for a brief moment what if my eyesight doesn’t come back this time?

What’s your aura like? Do you get other heightened or affected senses? My sense of smell and hearing becomes more acute just before the aura starts. Smells then make me nauseous. In our house when I start saying: “what’s that disgusting smell” or “Gosh! That’s bright!”or “That red colour is a bit garish” then we know I’m likely to have a migraine very soon after. 😂 On a very bad migraine one side of my face, usually the right, and right arms and feet go cold and numb too. For the bad ones I just have to give in lie down and succumb for as long as it takes. For a day after I wear sunglasses and my brain won’t work, so many of my autopilot things like driving and reading are affected. But luckily the big migraines are less frequent now I’m not working so much.

Thanks for replying , yes I go really cold and shaky. And I . cannot think. Even after seven years I still panic. Suffering with cervical spondylosis at present which makes me dizzy. After last night s migraine,I didn't sleep ,nervous wreck , worrying all night. Have arranged to see a physio , hope that will at least help my neck.do wonder if stress

is a cause. ttfv.

Stress or a period of high adrenaline and lack of sleep are my big triggers. And not sleeping always seems to make everything else seem worse too. 😂Hopefully the physio can ease things a bit. Actually I’ve just booked in for an acupuncture session as that’s worked for me in the past. Meditation can also help. Years ago I was taught how to meditate to focus on and remove pain. Sounds weird but quite simple process. I use that to help me fall asleep when I have a migraine and the pain is very bad. Stopped me taking too many painkillers too.

Thanks again Becalmed,. I think I am more worried by the migraine auras than the glaucoma. At least that's controlled it's good to hear how other people are doing. Let's keep everything crossed for an earlie improvement.

Hi Yes I had the frequently but less now the pressure are down a bit. So mine were associated to high pressure but that’s not always the cause.

A crescent of colour or black and white zigzags and blurred centre . Crescent gradually gets wider and the leaves . About 20mins. Sometime migraine follows sometime not.

I was quite calm about it until I realised the link with pressure. It’s also linked with other harmless causes eg menopause.

Shame for me that wasn’t the case but as I said it’s now reduced as pressure down to 24 or below. Only had 2 this .year . Suggest speaking to you consultant to get some reassurance about what’s causing yours

Sx
