I had suspected Glaucoma in c.2014 but after 2 years of regular hospital visits I was 'discharged' as they could not diagnose and the condition seemed stable. I have myopia (borderline for driving), congenital stationary night blindness (tested & diagnosed at Moorfields), plus something called congenital dysplastic discs with peripapillary atrophy. Two years later my optician sent me to A&E as she suspected a detached retina but it turned to glaucoma in the left eye. I am on drops for both eyes - 3 types - and have had a trabeculectomy in the left eye which still seems to be deteriorating although pressures taken every couple of months are at between 11 - 15. I have passed the DVLA test but I am now on an annual licence.
Is there any evidence that shows that the glaucoma generally spreads to the unaffected eye as clearly that would a major problem?

I do not think glaucoma always spreads to the other eye, but it probably depends on many things.
My sister has had glaucoma in one eye for about 20 years . This year she has been diagnosed with Ocular hypertension in the other eye( as she has no damage to the optic nerve or visual fields in that eye)
Her progress with glaucoma has been very slow and I know that some people with ocular hypertension never seem to develop glaucoma. Also she is in her 70's now , so less time to develop more problems.
I also have glaucoma , but have had it only about 6 years and progress has been more rapid.
You can search glaucoma NHS and get a lot of information, as also on the Glaucoma UK website.
On Feb.22 nd there is a Glaucoma UK webinar "Everything you ever wanted to know about Glaucoma"
Hi t55ddy, I am also interested to find out if Glaucoma spreads to the other eye. I have ocular hypertension in the left eye and Glaucoma in my right eye. I am 52 and at the present time my pressures are under control with drops to both eyes. I am also keeping my fingers crossed that my left eye manages to avoid developing Glaucoma. Iv read a lot online about it and some sites say it will develop and others say it could be years if at all. Fingers crossed 🤞 for both of us that it doesn’t develop 🙂
