Hi to all the lovely people.

I'm just about to change the Eye hospital.

Currently, I'm at ST Thomas Eye Hospital, changing to Moorfield in ST Georges Hospital. The reason for changing because for the last four times I could only see the Specialist Nurses not able to see the Consultants, so natually I'm quite worry.

But after doing a little research about the Moorfield in ST Georges Hospital, i have found out that patients may have video or telephone appoinments. I mean how could it be not face to face appointment???

So I do wonder should I change the Hospital or not? really appreciate any advices giving to me.

I'm sorry my English is not really good, I hope you would understand what I'm trying to say, thank you.

Hello TOTTHI, There are now Community Glaucoma Clinic in most of the areas where Visual field, OCT and IOP (+/- eye examination) are being checked in the one place by various experts - glaucoma nurse, optometrist or sometime medium grade eye doctors. All the results are reviewed by the specialist team and will arrange what the next appointment should be eg. hospital face to face and how soon to be reviewed. Time to time the eyes will be examined by the specialist at the hospital depending on the all the results. You should not be worried about this you are now been transferred to the one of top Eye Hospitals. with best wishes.

Hi balacakhu, thank you so much for the reply. May I ask how to find and get to be seen in the Community Glaucoma Clinic you have mentioned. I live in West Dulwich. Best Regards.

The Community Glaucoma Clinic is not in everywhere it depends on the local resources mainly in the big teaching hospital areas and not in every general hospitals. First the patients are seen and assessed by the hospital glaucoma team. If the glaucoma is stable the patients are sent to the community clinic for regular check up. If there is any concern the patients are sent back to the hospital for review by the team depending on the results. The patients are still under the care of Hospital Glaucoma Clinic. Your glaucoma clinic will explain to you about this facility.
