After my very traumatic post op telephone call I was right to be seen so it turned out. Possibility of detached retina, need to go back if floaters get worse or I have flashing lights.
Great news my pressures are down! However have to remain on all my glaucoma drops, increase the number of dry eye drops and now have to put gel in at night too. Referred back in two months time which again is good news.
Also now have laser treatment on left eye and biopsy on right eyelid on the afternoon of September 7th to save two trips to hospital, which takes 90 mins using bus, so I’m really grateful for that!
Oh and not to get glasses until after the laser treatment so now carrying a hand magnifying glass with me as my near vision is poor, frustrating when shopping however another experience which makes me so grateful for the sight I have and the support I’m currently getting to keep my sight as long as possible.
Anyone experience of the laser to clear capsule after cataract surgery?

Is it open angle you have I’m sorry I can’t remember At least it’s all coming together after that awful phone call. Of course your keep your remaining sight and that’s what your grateful for like you said. Also you still drive and look after those lovely grandsons. I have to up my dry eyes drops to like again you said its all worth it. Hope your having a lovely weekend and enjoying the weather. Xx
Your post just shows how important it is to have a proper face to face consultation after an eye op and not a telephone one. Fingers crossed you don't have a detached retina, I never even knew it was a possibility but now I know quite a few people it has happened to and though their recovery was long and drawn out it ended well in every case.That's brilliant your pressures are down, although a pain you are still on all your drops. Definitely good news you have a follow up appointment scheduled.
It's also good you are getting your next two procedures on the same day as it definitely makes it easier for you.
We don't have any sunshine here but at least it's dry and I had a lovely day out and a nice Italian meal 😁. X

Did they say at hospital if floaters will clear up or not if everything crossed it isn't a detached retina ?
Hi glad you enjoyed your Italian sounded delicious! If floaters get worse then to hospital, apparently floaters come with age! The joys of getting older! Hopefully the eye will settle however may take time. Can’t believe my sunglasses have snapped in half! What is it with anything to do with eyes at the moment 🤣x
You and your eyes not a great combination at moment. If you didn't laugh you would cry . Fingers crossed floaters do ease up as ones that look like wee spiders do not sound like my idea of fun. 🕷️🕸️🕷️x
Sunshine well done for chasing this up ! I’m so glad you went back and got that face to face consultation. There’s a message here…We should all be contacting our consultants secretary if we have anything that concerns us or seems a bit unusual. Go with your gut feeling I believe. The NHS are themselves concerned they are missing early cancer diagnosis because public are staying away during covid, and have asked people to get checked out if they have new or persistent symptoms. So maybe we should contact them to get answers earlier to our glaucoma concerns too?! Sunshine I’m so glad you’re back in in 2 months for a check too, but just go back to them early if you have any further concerns. Fingercrossed you keep progressing in a positive direction. Sometimes it does seem with glaucoma it’s two steps forward and then one step back as we all try to stay ahead of glaucoma or potential glaucoma progress! It’s like we’re doing a constant tango with glaucoma…although maybe more of a very slow waltz with POAG. 🤨
Becalmed thank you so much! You are absolutely right if our instinct is telling we need to see someone face to face we do need to persevere! Unfortunately I’ve never had any luck in speaking to a secretary so I found another way round it by contacting PALs at the hospital. Yet again emailed them at midday, by 2 they had phoned me and by 3 the eye clinic phoned me to arrange appointments! I’m so grateful for their support I’ve spent years in frustration trying to speak to the eye clinic or secretaries and just not getting through. I also know what you mean by one step forward two back! It’s hard at the moment but I know it will get better, I need to patient, sensible and realistic ha ha so easy to say not so easy to do. So glad to hear your good news. Fantastic your pressures are down. Face to face consultations make all the difference. All the drops are a nuisance but a small price to pay. Yep, when my cataracts get done I was told I shouldn’t waste my money on glasses until they are both done and settled, hey ho magnifying glass it is 😀. I also found a really handy one for carrying around and with a light from the Pound shop, only £2 and it’s brilliant! Yes cancelled appointment until after laser treatment and then back to Specsavers! Raining here but sun is trying to get out so hopefully I can get my walk in. Have a lovely day x

Mine was a bit more complicated because I had a retinal tear called a macular hole which had to be operated on to repair it. And the consultant said he would do the cataract at the same time in order to give me a bigger drainage channel. Since then the pressure in that eye is always lower than the other eye so that obviously worked.
When I went back to see him after the op and my eye was still blurry he told me that sometimes after a cataract operation that the eye can go cloudy but it was easily fixable but I couldn`t have it done for three months until my eye had recovered from the macular hole op.
So I eventually had the laser treatment and it was a bit better but then I had to have it done again and yes it was instant - it was clear. And as far as I can remember I didn`t have to wait to have new glasses.
If you want to learn a bit more about it - it`s called posterior capsule opacification and when I look things up I try to stick with NHS websites.

Yes Sunshine they are truly amazing people. When I had my macular hole op in 2011 the surgeon who did it was the only one in our area who did that operation. He was lovely - made me feel he really cared.
And who knows what the future holds for us all - they can do all sorts of things now that they didn`t do when I was first diagnosed with glaucoma in 1994.
Glad you had a face to face consultation , it’s awful how we have to push for them, these zoom calls etc... are ok for people whose conditions are stable and therefore reduce appointments in clinics, but not for newly diagnosed, those who need follow ups after a procedure or whose conditions are not stable .
Great that your pressures are down and you have next procedures at same time .
