How are you ?

Hello all my friends on here, are you all keeping well ?

My eyesight was slightly blurred pre trab surgery, still is, only a bit worse with the odd ache, dry eye which I am taking drops for, it feels like the eye ball has a slightly obscure film over it, but apart from that quite well, so no real problems, yet ! Hope the weather is good wherever you are, and your furry friends are keeping you active. Take care everyone. Best wishes Floki.

Hi Floki lovely to hear from you,I was actually thinking about you earlier. Have you any idea why your eye is feeling like that and what's causing the blurriness ?All is good here,I'm just in from a long, blustery, showery walk with Lu and one of my friends, just typical Scottish weather ☔. I'm just back from a few days in St Andrews, I spent most of my childhood holidays running wild on the beaches there with my wee brothers and the family dogs. My partner and I did the same with Lu ,just wearing wellies and raincoats instead of shorts and t shirts 😄 but we still had ice cream regardless of the weather.

Take care

Hi Witchie great to hear from you, glad all is well with you. No idea why my eye is playing up, don't have an upcoming appointment as yet with the eye clinic, and to be honest I've had enough of hospitals this year, so will just wait and what will be will be. Just got back from Portland Bill in Dorset where we spent a week, blowing a gale for the first few days then warm sun, so no complaints. Good to hear you are still enjoying ice creams, they are a must have always, we bought some doggy ice cream while away, he loved it and i tried it and it wasn't bad either, though I got the odd look from the dog and the wife ! Keep well, and best wishes.

You've just made me laugh with the thought of you trying your dog's ice cream, I'm glad you found it tasty 😃. Lu hasn't had doggy ice cream yet but she does love a pupaccino !!! I've never heard of Portland Bill, it's sounds like a cartoon about an old sailor not a place !!! It's just great getting away,we've been nowhere since March 2019,just prior to first lockdown so I am happy to go anywhere just now.I know what you mean about having enough of hospitals,I'm still waiting on a date for a trab on my left eye but in the meantime I'm actually enjoying not having to go to the eye clinic.

Hey Floki. My eye has been blurry since the Trab. I was told by my optician that as I still have a stitch in its causing astigmatism which is or can cause the blurriness. I’m seeing my consultant again early December and I’m hoping that he’ll take the stitch out & alleviate the problem 🤞. Could this be the same thing for you?

Hi Wales I was told all my stitches were dissolvable, I do not have any irritation as such. May need needling perhaps.

Oh well see what your consultant says at your next appointment. I think my sister in law had needling.

Hey Witchie. I was thinking about you recently and wondering how you were getting on. I’ve just got back from Wales funnily enough. Weather wasn’t great but then you don’t go to Wales for the weather.

in reply to Wales99

I assume Welsh weather is very similar to Scottish weather 🌧️. I hope you had a great time despite the weather ? Have you had your birthday yet ?That's rubbish you still have blurriness, definitely fingers crossed the stitch coming out solves the problem, December will be here in no time. It's been the quickest year. I had no idea astigmatism can cause problems until my friend told me she has blurriness ,I have one in my right eye but it's never bothered me luckily.

How are your migraines , have they

improved and is your HRT making a difference now?

We've been busy decorating ,well I've been bossing my other half around telling him what I want done,I did offer to do some painting ( I didn't really mean it ) luckily he didn't want my help. I provide snacks and drinks and he paints,it's a perfect partnership. He's glad to go to work and escape 😊.

Hi yes we had a nice relaxing time- it’s just nice to get away. My birthday is next week. No I didn’t really know what astigmatism was - I’d heard of it but never really thought much about it. I looked it up and apparently it can cause blurriness & headaches so that could also account for the migraines as well as the fact I need new glasses. Well bit of a long story with the migraines- they stopped after 3 weeks of HRT & didn’t have one for nearly 2 weeks. I got one on the day we travelled to Wales but I wasn’t really surprised because out of routine, eating & drinking less, etc. Then I got one on the return journey- again, wasn’t really surprised. Didn’t have one for the next couple of days but since last Tuesday I’ve had one every day 😩. I’ve been prescribed Candasartan which is a kind of beta-blocker. I think the HRT was working but I think I need the oestrogen side of it upping. I’m going to speak to the Dr & increase the dose & then gradually wean myself off the Candasartan. That’s the plan anyway. Hope all is going OK with you. I think your birthday is at the end of the month? You are so lucky your partner is happy to do that- I can’t get mine to change a flipping light bulb!

in reply to Wales99

I agree it is nice to get away, ours wasn't even planned it was last minute which was even better. Have you anything planned for your birthday or are you hoping for a surprise ?

That's so weird with your migraines,it was great you didn't have one for 3 weeks,it must have been bliss but awful they've returned with vengeance. Fingers crossed your plan works, I know with HRT it can take some tweaking before they get it right.

No my partner isn't really happy decorating but he would rather do it than clean up after the mess I would make !!! He is very handy and can pretty much do anything but he's very slow as it has to be perfect 😉 x

Ha ha! No surprises for me I don’t think. Nothing really- we were going to go out for dinner but I feel a bit “fooded out” after our holiday, wine & cheese every night, plus some really nice lunches. My husband cooks so he will cook me a nice meal- probably scallops as they’re my favourite- I don’t eat meat but I do eat fish. Yes I definitely think my Oestrogen needs upping plus i’m on the synthetic progesterone & want to switch to the body identical one. Ha ha! At least he does it (the decorating).

in reply to Wales99

Your husband at least cooks, whereas in all our years together up until my eye ops mine probably cooked about twice !!! and then only because I was too ill to cook. When I say cook I mean he buys ready made meals from Marks and puts them in the microwave 😂. When we've been on holiday and eaten out everyday I am glad to get home and get back to my normal food so I know what you mean being "fooded out". Your favourite meal being cooked for you sounds lovely. I got a Marks plant based curry and nan bread bought for me a couple of weeks ago but I had to cook it myself, who says romance is dead 😍

It’s one of the reasons I married him! 😂. I do most of the cooking Mon-Fri even though I work as well! He does cook at weekends but only if I plan it, shop for it and then tell him what he’s cooking 🙄. At least he does it though.

in reply to Wales99

Oh that's brilliant you've made me laugh. 🤣

You have to be crafty re decorating I was a decorator for 26 years and taught my wife to paint so she does most of the painting I hang wallpaper, but as luck would have it the house we are now in, we decided not to have wallpaper, so win win, but I don't like to see her struggle .......... so I go fishing !

Wales99 profile image
Wales99 in reply to floki7

That is true. My mum was very good at wallpapering I seem to remember- she did all of it. That’s very kind of you not to watch your wife struggle and to go fishing instead 😂😉.

Hi Floki good to hear from you.is it possible that you have a cataract starting that is causing you some problems? I have them in both eyes now and they cause both blurriness and the foggy/film effect you describe. I have been told that they are common after surgery. I’m just back from a sailing holiday in Greece - absolutely fabulous despite a few thunder storms while we were there. A least the torrential rain was warm! 😀

Hi Longwalks3, thank you for your message, I was thinking along those lines myself, I have seen 4 different consultants over the 8 years each with a different diagnosis, the first stated I had a small cataract, so maybe she was right in the first place ! Good to hear you had an enjoyable holiday, here's to many more.

Hope the blurriness does eventually go for you .🤞🏻Changing seasonal weather doesn’t help either as putting on radiators can affect some with dry eyes and I heard on news the other day Re Autumn hayfever where some people get affected by mould spores via the leaves etc...

My 14 year old cockapoo Monty was recently diagnosed with mitral valve heart disease , but doing ok, on tablets for that , but was a worrying time at first ,also now blind in one eye due to Glaucoma .

Milly my cavapoo is ok at 12 .

I’m fine too , feel much more relaxed now my irridotomy was done.

Take care x

Thank you for your reply, good to hear you're doing fine, and your dogs are coping well, it is a worry with elderly dogs, we had to let ours go last August, due to various illness's, he was 16, and still have not got over it, even though we have another little rescue dog, that keeps us on our toes ! Keep positive, best wishes.

16 is a great age , and not sure we ever get over losing our pets . Glad you have a rescue keeping you on your toes , they do make life fun x
