I’ve had my hospital letter telling me when and what I’ve had done over the last year, is SLT the same as Laser Iridotomy?
I’ve always thought I had SLT but they’ve said in the letter Iridotomy and how many can you have?
Looking forward to your replies and I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday❤️

Iridotomy is when a laser makes a hole in your iris to protect against angle closure. If you've had this done you'll be able to see the hole if you look in a mirror with a torch. An iridotomy usually lasts a lifetime although in some instances the hole can start to close many years later and needs opening back up.
SLT is a series of laser burns around your trabecular mesh that hopefully causes your eye pressure to fall in the following weeks, the effects of which can last for several years. SLT can be repeated but typically is less effective in repeat procedures.
Thanks so much for your reply. Yes I can see the holes, I think the first ones must have healed as I had to get laser again to both eyes. Hopefully these stay open for a long time and with the drops my readings stay low. Thanks again. X
Very nicely explained below,I had Laser Iridotomy done, they call them 'potent'[meaning open] on re-examination .....I had SLT done but it didn't work.....We are in a good way.... with Chronic Angle Closure with shallow angle chamber... IOP@18/19.....I use Duo Trav one time a day.... Good wishes from Thailand and monsoons...Say hello to lovely England and beautiful summer it must be there too!♥️
