As I've stated many times I've got no medical qualification, but been treated for glaucoma since I was a teenager, over 40yrs, being seen again in 4 months is a good sign, if it was that bad you'd be back in one month, haven't put that to scare or frighten you, my thinking would be Consultant doesn't want it to go any higher which is why he/she has prescribed extra for now

Hello.

The range of eye pressure is normally measured between 10-21mmHg so you are in the high teens.

Your consultant feels that your eye pressure is too high for you so they want to lower it to prevent anymore damage or progression from happening.

Sometimes, if a person has been using drops for a long time the eye gets used to it and the drops don't work as well as it did in the beginning. This isnt unusual and happens quite often. When this does happen, they look at either changing your drops or prescribing an additional one. The two will work together and hopefully will bring the eye pressure down to a level that is more suited for you and help maintain it.

Remember to space the additional drop evenly throughout the day. So for example, if you decide to put the drop in around 7am put the 2nd in at 7pm and stick to those times. This way you are treating the eye every 12 hours.

if someone has been prescribed an additional drop the gap between appointments tend to be longer but, if you are concerned at all within this time as to whether the additional drop is working you can either make an appointment at your opticians to have your pressures checked but will probably have to pay or you can contact the eye secretary with your concerns.

Hi there,

Love your doggie. I’ve no personal experience of this drop but your consultant is most likely adding it as they’d like your pressure to maybe get a little lower, perhaps it has been lower in the past. I’m sure if they’d any concerns they would see you sooner, so try not to worry, the current pressures are grand (I got similar yesterday after using a second drop for 6 weeks and dr delighted!) but any further decrease is to be welcomed :) see how you go with the drops, you can always ask your optician to check the pressure for you in between your next appointment, even a small decrease lets you know the drops are starting to help.

Everyone is different and your consultant knows your eyes best, I was in a similar boat a couple of months ago when my pressures suddenly increased but I’ve got through the blip and the additional drops have helped, I was reviewed yesterday after 6 weeks, going back in 6 months. Hope the drops work out for you, Karen xo

Hi From experience it seems that they do play around with drops from time to time. Sometimes they change them and other times they just add new types. At one point I was on three different types. Now I am on two.

The key thing is to use them properly I think, so we get maximum benefit.

All the best

Hi Lancashirelass

I don't know about these drops but just wanted to ask - have you been actually diagnosed as having glaucoma? Or are you on these drops as a preventative measure?

Thanks,

Kind regards,

Ella
