Hi. My husband had a trabeculectomy a week ago and all went well until 2 days post op when his eye pressure went up to 45 and his vision became very blurry. It was discovered that the flap that had been made in the eye had become stuck together with dried blood so was not working. We now have to wait 10 days for more surgery to unstick the flap so that the fluid can drain. I was wondering if this had happened to any one else and if so was there a favourable outcome? Thank you.

Trabeculectomy problem
Hello I had the Op in January and for the first couple of weeks the pressure remained quite high due to some blood in the way. In my case it cleared itself and no surgery was needed, but once it cleared the pressure went down to 8. Once the blockage is cleared I expect all will be well.
I had trab 3 weeks ago and at post op check up following day the drainage bleb was blocked with blood clot and my pressure at 30. Luckily in my case the consultant managed to dislodge clot with ocular massage. I've had to carry on massage myself but at check up yesterday my pressure was down at 14 and I no longer need to do this.
It must be concerning for you both but hopefully once he's had the new surgery his pressure will lower .
All the best.
Thank you for your reply. Yes the consultant said it has sealed itself shut unfortunately so needs to take him back in to open it up. He said it will only take approx 15mins. Just a minor bump in the road I guess. He had the right eye done in November 2019 and there has been no problems with that one.
Fingers crossed as his first op was a success once bleb re opened he ll do well with this one too.
You just want everything to run smoothly for your husband and there to be no bumps in road minor or otherwise.
