Hallo all...I'm new here. My eye pressures were high when referred to emergency hospital...24/29. I had been using Latanoprost . I was the put on Ganfort which I used for 3 weeks before having to stop them my eyes swelled and were unbelievably sore. I asked to be put back on Latanoprost for a short time while my eyes settled. My consultant wasn't happy but said I could do this and come back in 6 weeks for reassessment. However I am now on monoprost which I thought would help my eyes settle. They are better but not much. I am due back at the hospital mid December. Any advice would be welcome. I am 70 by the way. Thank you.

Monopost is the preservative free version of Latanoprost, so it may have been the preservative making your eyes sore
Hello JJ and welcome. If your eyes are feeling less sore since using the monopost it shows that it was probably the preservative in the drop that was causing the problem. Hopefully within these 6 weeks you will notice your eyes feeling more comfortable as the days go on. When you go back for your appointment, your consultant will be looking at how well the monopost has worked in controlling your eye pressure. If they are happy with the pressure they will probably suggest that you carry on with the regime you are on now. If they feel the pressure needs to be lower they will discuss with you the option of trying another drop or even adding an additional drop. Whatever they decide, it would be good to prescribe you a preservative free option.
Thank you.
