Hi everyone today is my due date no sign of baby yet but I am a little concerned that I didn’t have a group b strep test and it’s now too late. I asked my midwife yesterday if the baby would be tested and she said no. Does anyone know what I do now ?

Thanks in advance

Hi beck33,

Sorry we initially missed this post - if you haven't already given birth, we'd suggest discussing your concerns with your health professionals. If you or they are particularly worried about the chance of GBS infection, they might want to monitor your baby at birth and for the first 12 hours of life to check for any signs of infection.

You may find the leaflet we've written in partnership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists useful, it's available here: gbss.org.uk/wp-content/uplo...

If you have any further questions, please do contact our Helpline on 01444 416176 or on info@gbss.org.uk
