Hey. Im 19 and recently found out im pregnant. Im 7 weeks roughly amd I just got a lettet from the hospital telling me im a carrier of group b streptococcus. Do I need to book an early appointment with my midwife to tell her? Can anyone give me any information or advice as im so confused and worried right now. Im not even too sure what group b strep is...Thank you in advance.

Hi. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Knowing you carry group B Strep before your baby is born is good news as you can make the relatively small risk of your newborn baby developing GBS infection even smaller.
Do talk to your health professionals about this and, in the meantime, the key information is at gbss.org.uk/Pregnant.
