Do your best to eat nutritionally well before surgery. I had 2B adenocarcinoma and had surgery on 5-1-2014 to remove upper left lobe. I now have minor COPD well as asthma. As soon as possible, after surgery start walking. You may have to cart around those drain buckets or have an attendant carry for you. Fact: you cannot fill your lungs while lying down as when you are standing. Core strength helps us to breathe better as well as improving our balance. As soon as you get home try doing 1 plank a day as long as you can hold it for about 10 days, and start you're walking too! I have shortness of breath when I bend over more than any other time. A therapist told me that's because I'm squeezing my lung space. Lung cancer is now being detected much earlier giving us better chances! Good luck and God bless!
