severe high blood pressure, temporal pressure headaches, dizzy spells and blocked ears - unknown cause

Hi,

My name is Corbin, and for the last two years have been extremely unwell with a seemingly undiagnosible illness.

I am a fit, healthy 28 year old guy who has spontaneously developed servere high blood pressure, temporal pressure headaches, dizzy spells and blocked ears. The symptoms vary, with acute periods lasting a couple hours and occurring on a weekly basis. Generally an acute period is characterized by severe headaches, needing to lie down, blocked ears and extreme lethargy.

I have had CT’s and MRI’s of the brain and cervical spine, PET scans, ECHO’s, a multitude of blood tests and various other tests with no abnormalities.

I gym 4 times a week, eat healthy and work as a hairdresser, so my lifestyle is pretty healthy overall.

This condition is starting to limit my lifestyle and with two years of no answers I am putting it out there for someone to recognize or provide advice about what could potentially be going on!

Hi Corbin,

Have they checked your kidneys? There is a test using a dye that can measure how much blood is actually getting to the kidneys. If there is arterial stenosis, then that can cause your blood pressure to go pretty high. There is also a test called GFR along with bun and creatinine that can also measure how well your kidneys are working. Does either of your parents have high blood pressure? Sometimes we inherit this problem.

Hey there I have had a a number of dye injections to see the kidney functions with ct and MRIS and has all come normal, I have done a Number of urine and blood tests also they haven't Shown anything abnormal is that what you mean by GFR ?? My parents have no health issue or have inherted anything. So it's very weird no doc knows what it is. I have had it for 2 years now and I'm very much over it I have learnt to live with it as much as I can. I have good days and bad days. Thanks for your reply

What do you consider as extremely high bp?   The GFR is a blood test  showing what percentage your kidneys are working it should be 60 or more.  If it starts to go down, then there's Chronic Kidney Disease going on.  I guess you have been checked for Lupus?  Sometimes we do just have to adapt and live with things.      When your ears feel blocked have your had a Dr. to look in them to see if there is fluid build up?  Do you feel tired a lot?  The test I had that found out why my bp was going up to 230/108 and very resistant to three kinds of bp meds. was a test where they put radio active dye in me and it showed the blood flow going to my kidney.  One was at 50% the other 60% and my GFR was 47.  Which it has dropped to 27 twice.  Anyway when my bp gets up to 180, then my head starts hurting and I hae that plugged up feeling in my ears so I know to check my bp and what amount  of blood pressure med I need to take.
