Iv'e had FND for 9years I have problems with swallowing but lately this has got a lot worse my throat feels as though it's closing up its quite frightening even a small grain of rice gets stuck in my throat, does anyone else suffer from this.

I have a shallowing problem but Neurolens (multi-prism) glasses helped a lot. I used to get pain at the base of my skull while eating. Drinking lots of water while eating helps as you can get a swallow study done through imaging (VFSS).

I have the same issue - but I've been living with it for 26~ years now. I swallow using my tongue [kinda like it's pushing food down]. Small food like rice grains are a nightmare to deal with; they get stuck so easily.

Report it to your doctor - see if they can get you in to see a specialist, hopefully they'll be able to help you.

Thanks for your reply did you get checked out and told it was due to FND.I'm being referred to E.N.T

It was put down as FND because there's no physical/visible reason for it happening.

Hi im also having issues with swallowing and my body feels hollow same with mouth and at times tring to swallowing its like it gets stuck in the swallowing tube and I am grabbing at my neck and then huts chest but at times I feel im being strangled im now having issues with taking pills I end up chocking I will be 6yrs with this fnd its a night mare sam
