FND diagnosis

So I have had a long battle with getting to the bottom of my problems and on Tuesday I finally got all confirmed.I have been having symptoms for around 6 years and a lot of GP appointments! I have been back and forth to the doctor where I probably had a full blood count once per year (all okay) a urine & stool sample once per year (all okay) amongst many visits for other issues such as extreme fatigue, brain fog, pins/needles, back pain, chest pain, limb weakness, headaches, blurred vision, skin rashes, memory issues, speech problems, black outs, dizziness and more!

I was put on depression tablets which helped with my mental health but the random symptoms were still ongoing. It wasn't until I had second black out that they took me seriously and gave me an MRI scan with EEG.

After 2 years on the waiting list for those tests, I finally had them done in Jan 24 and got my results on Monday!

They said all was okay (no surprise!) And that I had got FND. They have now refered me to the FND department at my local hospital who will then give treatment plan and take it from there.

For 6 years I have felt like I am going crazy!Made to feel like it's all in my head and fobbed off a lot! Finally I can make sense of all the crazy symptoms and how they all link - the brain!

Yes, exactly. You can't help but feel like all your symptoms are just "in your head", in the sense that a single doctor can't put one and one together to form a proper diagnosis. That's how it was for me at least. My prior neurologist was treating me just for my symptoms, that is until I had a trip to the emergency room. The ER doctors thought I had FND. From that moment, I knew my doctor was missing something. And no, you're not crazy. Your symptoms are real.

I'm so sorry you were fobbed off for 6 years, that's horrific.I went through the same situation of going to doctors, having them ignore me, telling me everything was fine... Still dealing with that now, even though I have a diagnosis.

This is a victory and I hope you local FND assistance can offer you some decent help.

Hi kee. Hope you're doing good I haven't jumped on here in a couple years joined in 2016 when my wife was diagnosed with FND... If you search me out on here you'll see lots of things I've written that I believe are good messages. If I was you I would read up on Dr Sarno He is very good books about FND/conversion disorder/ mind body... Honestly I would stay off of this FND website though some doctor suggested but I believe it didn't help my wife at all and I always prefer her not to be on here It only further hurt her mission on trying to get better.. I don't know why I jumped on here this morning I haven't been on in years Maybe it's to help you. So I figured I'd write this little message saying Look at some of my old postings Believe in your diagnosis Read Dr Sarno and I hope you get better much love to everybody on here I do believe sometimes this site does steer people in the wrong direction though only love for you guys take careChris
