How does FND effect your sleep? Does anyone else wake up after only a couple hours of sleep? Even when I sleep longer it doesn’t feel as refreshing as it once did.

Indeed. Full rest is difficult to achieve without medication.

Hello BiggieSmals

Yes indeed sleep is a major issue for me i might as well have a built in alarm clock i go to sleep around 10pm and 99'9% of the time im wide awake by 0100-0200 every single night and i just cannot get bad to sleep until something like 0430 to be awake again at 6am

Its strange hope this helps

My sleep is awful. I bet about 2 hours a night and that’s me wide awake. Even medication to help me doesn’t work. I don’t fight it anymore, and get up and get a cuppa and watch tv and try to rest on the sofa 😴😴😴😴

Hi,

This is my biggest challenge of my FND journey.. I seem to go through the stages of bad insomnia and then only if I take time of work and relax my sleeping pattern returns to some normality..but as you said sleep is never the same refreshing as it once was..I feel for you..I know what it's like. I gave in and finally agreed to take medication (I'm very holistic overwise) . Started on Amitriptyline and slept for three nights but our less each night and tonight was again very disturbed and not sure how much sleep I managed to get. Scary to think that tablets only helped me for such short time. Night 5 today and im praying my brain decided to sleep! Are you on any meds? Look after yourself and I wish you a sleepful night ahead🙏🏻🌈🙏🏻

Hi BiggieSmals I haven’t had proper sleep since my 20’s I just grab it when I can to be honest. Lucky to have a few hours at a time but unfortunately wake up with panic attacks at the moment. Even though I take clonazepam, amitriptyline and sertraline. I have not tried sleeping tablets though. I just keep going like we all do. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful to you but just know you are not alone X This FND is awful for all of us dealing with it. There are always different ways we can try and cope, aromatherapy, meditation, drawing, reading, trying to go for walks if possible on a good day. Only time I get a proper sleep for some reason is if I am by the sea?? Which is mega strange to me, unless it’s the sea air knocking me out? I wish you all the best and take care of yourself 💕ps even like Robsmissus said, get up and have a cuppa snooze on the sofa if possible X
