The past couple of things with my body have stuck. 1ST my left leg didn't feel normal it felt foreign. I would walk with a drag and I couldn't move my foot by choice. As I would walk I would limp. One night at work I had a small fit while walking and noticed when it happened it went back and later got worse but it later affected both my legs. So now I walk with a gait problem at work and use a walker at home. So having an attack while performing a task.
2ND. I was at work and was sitting while writing on a note pad. As I did it I had a small attack. After I continued to write only that it was bad. I knew it was an FND symptom and it should subside. I hasn't after more than a day. And now my hand writing is bad.
Has anyone had that where they have consistent problems after their attacks? It wasnt like that before their attack

This sounds really interesting. If I understand correctly, you had recovered from FND? Would you mind explaining what you mean when you say 'a small attack? Thank you and all the best,

small attack meaning I have a out of the blue moment that I have a blackout moment My eyes will close or flutter Ill throw my hands around and speak gibberish not knowing what im saying just watching inside whats going on. it lasts for a minute or so and then im done. No I havent recovered it just evolves and changes
Hi, I was unable to walk without a limp or dragging left leg, my left foot also turned in, this kept on until 3 years into FND, then I got 1 months rehabilitation for FND symptoms in London. They taught me to place my heels down first when walking, my limp, dragging etc was gone straight away just through that simple act of heel down first. I still get fatigued if I overdo things and my symptoms will return with a vengeance, unfortunately as you still have to work and unable to rest maybe your symptoms are changing, or getting worse. It’s so frustrating to be told time and again to rest when all everyone wants is to have a bit of their life back but reading on here it does seem rest is so important for improving or even just levelling off. You could try heels down first when walking, I hope it could help you as much as it did me, good luck 🤞
Hi yes I can relate to this ...from Jan - March I have episodes where I go Into a trance like state it always starts with a drunk dizzy feeling and then my eyes get stuck and I stare into space..I know whats going on but I can’t respond or move then I get paralysis of my legs and complete loss of speech disorientation and takes me at least 2-3 hours to recover.
I always get the drunk feeling suddenly and then the other symptoms gradually on top of that and now trying to lie down wherever I am as soon as I feel it and just accept it and let it pass - this does seem to be working. But sometimes it comes on suddenly all at once and there is no time to get to a safe place/position. I also found that breathing relaxation exercises make it worse and even trigger it off... which I find really odd??!!! As I thought they are supposed to help and the last time I did this I couldn’t make myself breathe which was terrifying for my partner. (It was like the opposite of hyperventilation)
Until about a month ago I still had some recovery from the paralysis and speech in between .... but I can relate with your post as each time I now have a trance like episode (every day at present) my symptoms are getting worse and not going completely only slightly improving with no ‘normal’ in between. My speech has not returned to normal at any time for the past month now. I had an episode the other evening and it was the worst it’s ever been (my speech) I sounded like a baby trying to talk it was awful like I knew what I wanted to say but I couldn’t form the words with my mouth and I completely lose my co-ordination. Trying to use cutlery to eat a meal for example is very difficult and a very painfully slow process.
So yes I can relate to the worsening of symptoms after ‘attacks’
Yes they encourage u to do the meditation and when they tell you to focus on your breathing sometimes I feel like I’m gonna suffocate and it doesn’t relax me at all. Lately I’ve been listening to thunderstorm sounds and I like that better. I think it’s like everything else with FND the more you pay attention to it the worse it gets. You have to distract yourself.
Hi Mattew, I was busy moving recently. Sorry to hear about new symptoms. I know it was several weeks ago. How are you now?
Moving might have caused me a new one in that my knees are giving way like I am drunk! We shall see if it stays or not, lol.
Anyway, I hope the symptoms ended up subsiding. Let me know how you are going!
I am ok mentally and emotionally. I'm on leave from work right now my walking hasnt gotten better. They said something now and I'm waiting till the doctor I see fills out Americans with Disabilities Act paperwork.
It's going as good as it can be I'm not stressed because I understand it's something I have to deal with now.
The paperwork says what things I need. I just need a step stool to get up and down semi trucks. And to allow me to sit and walk short distances. I've been considering a job change but same field like office duties or do parts. Something less strenuous you know? Hopefully u still can get about the house and u still have income protection. I dont have that
