Hi, I believe my FND symptoms started after having sciatica for 6 weeks then spasms moved up into my shoulder and neck and I was struggling to breathe properly as l had one shoulder higher then the other although I only knew by looking in a mirror and my neck was twisted permanently to the right, the chiropractor tried to manipulate my neck and shoulder back into position and I left his practice in a ambulance with my first seizure. It took 17 months to get diagnosis for FND symptoms, I’ve since had 1 months rehabilitation in London hospital and have some quality of life back but am left with life changing symptoms. Nearly 4 years on I struggle daily with fatigue and if overdo things my pain and symptoms return with a vengeance. There is no more that can be done to help me I’ve just got to learn to rest and not overdo stuff, pace myself but still hope I’m going forward. I just keep thinking maybe next year will be better. Maybe time will make all the difference.

That is awful! But I wonder about chiropractors. There are some fantastic ones. My friend had one she saw due to previous injuries, who kept her healthy. But I once saw one when 8n was in says miranous, ie, permanent migraine cycle with no good days. He told me I had to see him twice a week and take 6 months off work. I told him I couldn't afford that, and he said I had to, to get better. The, during his exam, he looked into my eyes and said I had glaucoma starting. After his treatment he said the glaucoma had been reversed!

Now I am very open to complimentary medicine. I have used essential oils on my baby with fantastic results (only chamomile for ear infection), on many others too. But that was really taking the kids. You cannot see glaucoma without any assistance.

It makes me wonder if your Chiro was as capable as they thought they were. Were they the cause of the problem you now have? The neck and spine are so delicate!

There was a lady in rehabilitation when I was there, she thought hers was caused by anaesthetic, there are just so many causes and we all have so many different symptoms, it’s hard to come up with a definite cause to even claim for loss of earnings, quality of life etc.

I think my FND was brought on by chemotherapy.

My life has been traumatic from early age. But in 2011 I lost my dad to throat cancer. Weeks later I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. I had a huge operation with complications. My heart stopped for 15 minuets. When I came round the pain was so intense that I truly thought that was it. Thought this is how my story ends! Was extremely heartbreaking at the time. Anyway since then I have been told I have a complex pain disorder. On top of that yesterday I was told I have FND. So I read up on it a little. My heart sank cos it was saying it’s all in my head. I found this site just by chance and thought I’d give it a go. I have been suffering from so many symptoms since 2011. Dizziness. Fatigue. Pain. Headaches. Just the fact I have no one to turn to. I have my mum. But she’s not well herself. I’m waiting to see a neurologist. Been waiting nearly a year. My appointment isn’t until April.
