Just wondering how many FNDers have autistic kids , why I ask is I do and a few months ago he had to under go a whole lot of blood test well the test came back on Friday where they had found a rare genetic flaw in his DNA called SHOX - leri-Weill syndrome which is a neuro development Dissorder and I now have to be tested to see if I carry the gen this has got me thinking that I may finnaly be getting closer to acturly finding out more about my condition and weather there is a connection between the 2 . Most people will not know about SHOX unless they have been tested or if they should symptoms that leads to testing ..
Anyway lots of confused thoughts 💭 and clinging to anything that might help unlock the key to our Dissorder

I have wondered if there was a connection between my autoimmune disorders and my kids' Autism! All three of my kids have varying degrees of Autism, but are all high functioning. We are pretty sure my husband has it too. I also have hypothyroidism (since age 12), PCOS (since age 18), Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome (since age 30), and OCD (newly diagnosed. I've never heard of SHOX, but I'll definitely be looking into it!
So I just looked up SHOX and I'm thinking that's not a factor for us! My husband is almost 6'4", I am 5'10", and all three of my kids are tall or very tall for their age. In fact, my middle son has been projected to be AT LEAST 6'5"! I will say, though, my husband's father was only 5'7" and his mother is 5'5". Apart from his one great uncle who was 7' tall, my husband is by far the tallest on his side of the family!
Has any of you with autistic children had chromosome testing that's how they found the SHOX deletion so now I'm getting my chromosome testing done today as they think my son has another condition attached to the Shox but need my chromosome test done to determine it not shaw but I'll be asking a lot of questions and wanting answers wheather my FND is somehow connected I guess I'll grab at anything if it helps finding out answers to our baffling condition
