Hi after years of symptoms which were ignored, my 18 year old daughter has been paralysed on two occasions this year. She has now got a diagnosis of FND and chronic migraine. I am trying to persuade her to apply for some benefits as she cannot go back to work for another 6 weeks until she has more tests and even on a good day of mobility, she struggles. Is anyone else able to advise please?

Diagnosis of FND and chronic migraine
Sorry to hear that your daughter's going through this, I'm also 18 and not long been diagnosed too. I'm presuming you're in the UK? First step is get a 'Fit Note' from the doctor. Next look up whether the job centre plus in your area does universal credit. I made the mistake of not doing this and got in a bit of pickle whilst also wasting time. If so apply for universal credit, if not apply for ESA(Employment Support Allowance). If this is going to be a more long term thing, consider applying for PIP(Personal Independence Payment), the replacement for DLA(Disability Living Allowance). PIP is notoriously hard to get but if you can get it, it is helpful, and you can claim whilst working too because its more to do with the extra costs of a disability or illness. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help any further 😊
