Hello everyone my 22 year old son was diagnosed with FND a couple of months ago. I'm taking him to Gran Canaria for a much needed holiday but I'm having difficulties finding an insurance company for him. All help gratefully received.

when I travel I always get the travel insurance from the airline. never had a problem. My health insurance allows travel so that is not anything I had to worry about. Hope you are able to get things resolved for your trip. i too just booked a trip. i need a vacation from everything. my prescription to myself...is to sit on the beach, enjoy the wind in my face, the water at my feet, and the sunshine all around me.

Hi,

I managed to get insurance with "Freedom Travel Insurance Services Ltd"

It was a bit more expensive than normal and they would only allow me single trip insurance.

Good luck,

Mel x

Hi Iv just travelled with Allianz.

I suppose it depends on his symptoms. Can you get something in writing from your gp. Airlines generally like to know what they are dealing with.

I'm a nurse so have travelled with blue kids flying for hours to have cardiac surgery. So anything is possible.

In general there needs to be a labelled 'carer' with the child. So as long as you can say you are fully equipped to deal with anything that might happen while flying eg if he has seizures you have seizure medication.

I once travelled from Australia to Dubai and we had a passenger who had a seizure and we treated him and I advised he go to hospital in Dubai but he insisted on getting in his next flight to Europe. And they let him.

The other thing I suppose the insurance company is worried about is if he has to be hospitalised while on holidays so again I think a letter from your gp would be helpful.

People with disabilities travel all the time the insurance company will just want details.

Good luck. Maybe someone else can answer this better 😊

Hey, I've just booked a holiday to Cyprus and for my fnd it's gone as a central core nervous system - described the condition to the sales assistant on phone etc and they used that as term. Also had to list individual conditions along side that and answer lots more questions as expected on last hospital admission etc....

I'm 30 & a weeks cover was £78... not too bad I suppose for only booking a week in advance! Really hoping first holiday in 4 years will do me well resting in sunshine :-)

My cover was with staysure

Hope this helps

Take care
