I see an epileptologist but my attacks do not fit neatly in to a category. The next Dr. I'm seeing is a Movement Disorder Specialist.

My EEG's do show seizure activity. Mostly my lower extremities are affected to the point that I fall if I'm not holding on to anything. My speech sometimes becomes halted and slurred. In between attacks I get symptoms of being removed from my surroundings, loss of balance, frequent falls. My neurologist says I do have epilepsy although I have never had a typical seizure, he says he doesn't think these attacks are caused by my epilepsy so he is having me see a Movement Disorder Specialist. The only thing that will bring me out of an attack (other than waiting sometimes for hours) is either falling asleep or a strong dose of benzodiazepines. I never know when I'm going to go in to a full attack or when my symptoms are going to subside and go away. Sometimes I also get double vision. I have spent years before finally finding a Dr. at a good hospital that is not giving up on me and just sending me over to psychiatry (I've spent years bouncing back and forth). I know these symptoms are neurological, but I don't understand why I can't get a definitive diagnosis. I filmed one of my attacks but that didn't help either. They are on Youtube under Jennifer Ahearns Neurological Attacks (part 1 and part 2). It's very frustrating and to me unlikely that I am the only person in the world that this happens to, it has me on full disability and controls every day of my life because I never know when one is coming. Can anyone help me?

I think it best to remember no diagnosis is better than a wrong diagnosis. It may be an idea to consider if another line of doctors may be worth seeing. Autoimmune disorders can manifest neurologically, vascular type disorders and etc.
