Hi everyone this question isn't for me

A friend of mine was having seizures quite frequently, tests were done at her local hospital their conclusion they were stress related due to personal matters from a long time ago.today she went to see a neurologist and whilst waiting to see this man she had 3 seizures/fits in the waiting room and ended up smashing her head and face up disgustingly she wasn't treated very well they said it was dissociative seizures and they could do nothing for her. does anyone know of any organizations that could help in wales

Hi Hun it’s not true there isn’t treatment for non epileptic seizures, but you are looking at therapy rather than medication in the main. Her best bet would be to approach her GP to try and get a refferal to a neurologist specialising in functional disorders, there’s an organisation called FND hope on Facebook who has a directory on their website, unfortunately it does often mean travelling out of area. The main recommended therapy is CBT, but if she’s already aware that there are issues from her past that are affecting her then counselling/psychological therapy may help her aswell😊On a daily basis it may be worth looking at mindfullness/meditation practice, there are phone apps like Calm, and lots of u tune videos that she could try; focus on ‘grounding techniques’ and breathing exercises. Please tell her not to be put off by one neurologist, it is a more common condition than people think but you have to find someone with Expierience in dealing with NEAD, which not all neurologists have 😊

I agree with Muppet76 with a caveat.

The programme I've just attended is in London. There were four of us on our programme. It runs for five weeks and individuals travel in from ask over the country. Those that can't travel daily are put in a hotel: categorised as outpatient.

During the five weeks we saw a physiotherapist, occupational therapist and neurological therapist. Being on the programme has given me strategies to help my condition and confidence. I can walk without sticks short distances and go outside on my own. Something I haven't done since 2009. If she hasn't been referred, ask her Doctor to get one. Living with such a condition is awful and more so for loved ones in some ways. She is very lucky to have an understanding friend.

Please let us know his she gets on xx
