Hello, my husband is 8 weeks post RP and feeling well. His first PSA @ 6 weeks was <.01 and we are looking forward to an undetectable result at his 3 month PSA. He been fully continent since about 4 weeks out.
For those of you that have been through an RP, how long did you wait before beginning to lift weights? If you lifted, did you have a lower weight limit for a while before really starting to lift heavier amounts? Thanks!

Mike52's better-half super-advocate - Great summary of Mike's outcome from his surgery. It seems you two got to the right place at the right time. I'm sure you know that your role in that is not insignificant. Mike's post-surgery checklist looks to me to so far be complete, with just the 3-mo PSA to confirm the possibility of zero cancer from here on out.
As for exercising and weight-lifting, I "cheated" on my RALP and each of the two more invasive AUS surgeries and started working out at the gym at maybe 3 weeks. In the case of the RALP, I started with machine exercises and activities that did not stress the abdominals and for the AUS, since it is a more invasive open surgery with a small lower abdominal incision for the reservoir and a much larger perineal incision to install the plumbing, I made sure not to do any exercises that put pressure on the perineal area or the area of the reservoir.
If Mike is 2 months out, I would think he could get back to doing almost any activity he was doing before the surgery, minding, of course, any pain or soreness in areas that were involved with the procedure. Go slow, but Go, Man, Go!
Thanks for the update. It is the sort of good news that makes a fine start to a new year. Take care and stay well. - and a Very Happy New Year to you both. Ciao - Capt'n cujoe
I'd ask your doc at the follow up visit. For my it was quite some time--three months?, more, I think, but I was pretty sick afterwards with a fair amount of continuing pain for quite a while. And I did ease back in.
Your guy is doing great, enjoy it! and if he waits a little longer than he has to that's better than jumping back in too soon.
