Katherine Virgo, PhD, on Updated ASCO Prostate Cancer Guidelines - MedPage Today Interview - 02/17/2021

A good summary of the recent update (after 13 YEARS?) to the ASCO Guidelines for treatment of men with noncastrate advanced, recurrent, and metastatic disease. When looking at the range of trials and the current lack of consensus on best SOC, it seems our generation of patients are still basically guinea pigs for the medical industry. Be careful out there, Brothers.

Well Said - By one who knows personally whereof he speaks.

BTW, I wouldn't rush back from FL until the weather is more favorable for your return. Catch more fish, get more natural Vit D, and stay warm and well.

Safe travel for the trip north when you do it. Paz, Senor K9

Guess you may be looking a lot closer to those pictures of you that our missed brother, Gus, used to post. Beware of April Fool's Day! I say stay south as along as you can. Shalom - cujoe

K9 Terror,

The scientific discovery landscape is changing so fast that waiting another 13 years is just not an option. The next update MUST include oligometastatic state treatment as those individuals are already being treated differently using MDT. So many new and promising drugs under development.... Targeted immunotherapy....combinations... Here's to hope for the future and a better chart than the current one.... Thanks for posting...

NP, As always, your inputs are invaluable, as you have you finger on the pulse of the many advances in science that will one day completely change the SOC for most, if not all, cancers.

To Dr. Virgo's credit, she commented up front about the long time since the last update and also of the need (with the pace of new advances and clinical trial results) for future updates to be done more quickly.

Hope you are doing well in spite of the nasty winter weather you have had recently. In a slight perversion of your now famous clarion call to science, I remind you that . . . Spring is Coming!

As you wait . . .Stay Well, Capt'n K9

@cujoe, Thank you for your contribution of your summary for the reality check of real data of “treatment”.
