US Patient Alert - Some US insurers to move this week to stop waiving telehealth copays!

Heads up for patients with some private health insurers in US. Not clear how (or if) this will affect Medicare patients with supplemental coverage.

"Starting Oct. 1, several private health insurers will no longer fully pay for virtual visits under certain circumstances — effectively reinstituting costs for patients reliant on the virtual care that has been heralded as a lifeline at a time when Covid-19 is still killing more than 700 Americans each day."

Seems our "most expensive in the world health care system" private insurance industry needs more money to keep the endless profits flowing in spite of the worldwide pandemics; i.e., profits above patient safety, irregardless of health consequences.

Maybe one day the US will join the rest of the developed world and embrace the notion that health care is a right and not a privilege??

Captain K9,

I could act surprised that the insurance companies are stopping the waiving telehealth copays during an epidemic, but no surprise... Patient safety be damned....all about the Benjamins ...

Almost humorous the responses here, as the same post at another HU forum was edited due to "politically sensitive" content. The individual that objected to parts of the post is a retired fireman in a very red state and, no doubt, has a fully taxpayer-subsidized excellent untouchable health care plan. In response to the edit, I sent the following quote to the Admin that made the edit:
