Rob23, I had LD Brachytherapy in May of 2010. Did have just a bit of radiation cystitis but was given some suppositories (cannot recollect exactly they consisted of) which worked very well. The problem was quickly taken care of and have never had any further complications other than some almost trouble free roids. Sorry you are experiencing ANY side effects!

Thanks Blasterbob I'll make inquiries. How was your PSA levels after, I've just had my first PSA results and they are 1.79 with the radiation still working .

Rob23. My PSA has remained right at 0.08 to 0.10 for the past six years. The half life of the seeds is not very long as my radiation has surely wore off by now. Try not to even think of your body being changed by the radiation and just watch your PSA numbers for each three month periods. I do know that it is rather difficult to put this stuff out of mind but as time goes on, you will think less and less of the old PC diagnosis.

Thanks for the good advice, and may your PSA numbers keep low.

Hi Rob23 What made you decide on Brachytherapy and not surgery, I am 62 and have just been diagnosed with prostate cancer 3.4 gleeson 7 now my next step is deciding which treatment is best Brachytherapy or surgery.

Anyway good luck with your recovery hope all clears up soon. joe

Hi Joseph6

First of all my I say I'm sorry about you diagnosis we all know how you are feeling, but nows the time to be proactive for yourself and if there is any good news to be taken from this it sounds as if it is contained within the prostate. In my case I decided to go for Brachytherapy over surgery after reading an article in the news paper about a man who had had Brachytherapy at the Royal Surrey, my understanding is the outcome is as successful but with less set backs such as incontinences and ed plus less invasive, for me it has been a year since my operation and things have gone well my PSA is reducing at each blood test as expected, my only problem has been and still is I suffer from cystitis and at times this is chronic This seemed to stem from having to have a Turp twice. A year on and I stand by my decision as I have no problem with either. Hopefully this will help you come to a decision and good luck. Please feel free to contact me at anytime.
