Have you got the new Benefits & Work guides? If not, email info@fibroaction.org and Emma should be able to send them out for free.

Not sure there is a particular way to fill it in, you state your illness and how it affects you, enclose as many GP and consultant letters as you can get hold of to support this.

The biggest hurdle you will face is the ATOS medical, it is the questions they ask and the report they write based on your answers that counts, my recent medical was conducted by a nurse, could have been a veterinary nurse for all I know. Then someone at the DWP with no medical qualifications at all, has the final say.

Good luck, this message will self destruct in 10 seconds. Que music for Mission Impossible.

Hi, I know this doesn't answer your question, but hoping u may know answer to mine. HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR UR FORM TO ARRIVE AFTER UR TELEPHONE CALL. I have 1st letter telling me to phone them if I haven't heard from them within 2 weeks (which is today) but I am going away first 2 weeks in May and worried they will send it whilst away. Don't want to tell them I am going away, coz another person on here said they hold it against you. DOES IT TAKE A FEW MONTHS? Please help me, am so worried. Thanks x

Hi Laurie Lee, When I received my 1st letter, stating I would get a call.Well no call was made to me, so I called them on the 14th day, and they insisted that they had called me! and that they would just now send me the forms out. I received them in a few days, and had 30 days to return them, Ive also heard so many stories where they say if you can go on holiday then you are fit to work, as you can sit on a plane for couple of hours, etc. This is nonsense as I have mentioned on here before, my sister is severely disabled with MS, she cannot feed herself/dress/shower/walk etc, she is also nearly blind. BUT she goes abroad a few times a year. This is what she looks forward to. I wonder if they would say the same to her.

Laurie, if you get the forms before you go away, you would have time to fill them in, and if they are not received before you go on holiday and you are going away for 2 weeks, you would still have time to fill them in when you come back. But it did take me a couple of weeks to fill it in, I did a little each day. Enjoy your holiday.

Thanks Jayjayboy. They phoned me today and said it would take 2 weeks for the form to get to me and then 4 weeks for me to return. Fortunately had arranged to see GP tomorrow to get copies of evidence. Hopefully, she won't charge me. Really appreciate our help. Makes me feel calmer. X
