I had this when I had a big flare up before diagnosis. I could only describe it as like having sunburn on my arms especially, and had to move them to cold areas of duvet till I fell asleep.

No worries, you are certainly not alone. I have had this in the past over a large area of my body but thankfully at the minute I just have a little patch on the underside of my forearm which is driving me mad- I didn't realise how often you put your forearm down on something during the day! I hope yours passes soon xx

Yes i cant stand anybody touching me and before i started gabapentin my shoulders neck and arms burned so bad it made me cry. I think the gabapentin has helped but it still flares when i have done too much.

hugs, kel xxxx

Thanks for the replies, had to take my time replying as I'm ever so sore all over, this burning is constant but ever so much worse when I'm on or just had a course of steroids for chest/lung infections (COPD) don't think it's the antibiotics as I've been keeping my eye on things and antibiotics on their own seem ok, it's just the steroids, I put more thought and time into this vile condition than my GP ever has and no matter what I go to doc with EVERYTHING is down to my FM can't say it's my smoking as I gave that up lol, next it will be my weight as I've said before I'm rather large at the moment usually a size 12 but today I'm a size 18 and I've gained 4 stones :(, oh how I wish this would go away I don't get any respite from it at all and to top it all I was refused DLA, no reason why, just client does not fit criteria, so if I don't fit who the devil does as I've not seen anyone in the medical profession who fully understands this and as for the lay person she was just a numpty, got really annoyed when I said my 16 year old son has to fasten my bra, well I can't do it but at the same time she tells me because I can't always reach the loo (big long hallway, me very slow) I could get a commode in my living room and no-one would know, aye right, excuse me but while you're sitting having your tea, could you pass me the loo roll, good God you need a sense of humour.

A sense of humour you definitely can be diagnosed with! You made me laugh!

Shame about DLA - try what I did, send them a long, detailed, pain filled letter that makes you sound like you are a Saint to cope! None of us claim that of course, and I am not making you out to be a liar - just tell them like it is on your worst days - I mean days, because some days different bits hurt right?

Back it up with letters from people who know you - even get your son to write down how he feels about helping you out when he would rather be, I don't know, but tell him to make it sound like its making his life difficult and reassure him it won't upset you [do not read it! really, you don't want to know]. Maybe get him to seal it in an envelope and promise not to open it. Anyway, it worked for me, but I was claiming for mobility as I cannot walk very far.

Good luck!

Yes, I really do know what you mean, but not as bad as some of you. My thighs can cope with my trousers/jeans/pjs but touch with a finger tip and it really stings! Otherwise what on earth would I wear! he he

I am on Lyrica and Amitriptyline - the latter helps with the sensitivity I think as without it I cannot lay in my bed as I can feel every crease and if I try to ignore it, it becomes like something sharp is sticking into me.

Horrid isn't it. Check with your doctor regarding the dose of meds and type of meds as I have to adjust mine from time to time. It may be time for you too!

I also suffer with burning skin i rub aquaios cream in have to keep doing it but it does help a bit x

Welcome to fibro land bless you it is awful isnt as if there are not enough other symptons i do feel for you jus t try to keep as comfortable as you can bless your heartnot alot you can do we all have to put on our masks lol love diddle x

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply, Sarah-Jane, getting famiy friends etc to write down how it affects them would be a great idea, although my son says " a ream of paper doesn't cover how he feels about it, how it affects him and just what he has to do for me", it's a shame because he now has to see a counsellor once a week due to depression, I have never come across a 16 year old who is depressed and boy is it hard what with both of us suffering from depression, all because of this god damned stupid condition.

Acutehugs, I was using aqueous cream but it made a mess of clothes and bedding as it was not absorbing quickly enough, I don't have dry skin so I switched to Nivea, and Dove visible effects, expensive I know but I try to buy when it's on offer in the supermarkets or just after Christmas and Mother's day when they have these pre made bags which contain bubble bath, body lotion or shower gel and they're unable to sell them so they go half price or less lol, and on a limited income and a 16 year old who had hollow legs (I cannot feed him enough, always hungry), you learn to spend wisely.

Diddle, you say it well put our masks on, pmsl at that not so long ago my mask was my make-up now it's a smile if I can manage that through the pain as I can no longer put make-up on.

Geez I honestly thought life begins at 40 ha ha at 51 I've suffered this pain for the last 15 years and it's slowly getting worse and little things creep in too, like short term memory loss, having to wear a tena lady, just incase, have to take my teeth out as gums sore, (I noticed past postings about teeth and yes mine are breaking off too and enamel wearing away on front teeth), one big major setback and bugbear for me is not being able to wear my high heels I must have about 30 pairs of sandals of all colours and all with 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 inch heels and you just cannot walk in them with 2 walking sticks or a wee tripod thingy on wheels, looks stupid, so my daughter has gained all my sandals, and golly she'd better look after them as I did, lol.

No point crying over spilt milk so I'll off for the moment and hopefully get some sleep, that's another thing that takes it's toll you either cannot sleep for the pain or sleep for days due to sleep deprevation :(.......Goodnight all.

Softest and Gentlest of hugs from

Aches.
