Hmm. Depends on whether he means somatoform conditions, which are physical manifestations of mental illness, or just the basic definition of somatic conditions in that they are functional. Fibro can be considered largely somatic in one respect as the main problems behind it are to do with the brain not functioning properly. However, it is not a manifestation of a somatoform condition - these conditions are supposed to be very rare, but are quite widely diagnosed because of Fibro and other conditions being mis-diagnosed as this.
all i know is hes written functional somatic illness
bit like me. Went to consultant with chronic depression and he told me i have bipolar and aspergers, but still only appears as depression on my records!xx
