Hi, it depends on the person, and what you do to aggregate it, rest abs if you can put a hottie on it, try not to stretch or move too quickly, it can last around 2 weeks or longer.I have triggered mine off through coughing too much with this cold and cough. Oh happy days, what we have to put up with.

I hope it eases soon, take care.

Hi, I agree with Blue52 as whenever I get this it usually lasts a couple of weeks and has always been bought on by coughing too much. I was referred to the pain clinic once for an injection but of course it had cleared up by the time the appointment came through! Rest as much as you can and definitely no stretching (or coughing!).

Hi, mine usually last a couple of weeks but I did have one that lasted four weeks. My G.P. said that it is unusual for them to last longer than that.

Hi Duck9I’ve struggled with flare ups of this too usually caused by the fibromyalgia causing my chest muscles to contract and tighten around my rib cage…. I was advised to lay on a pillow and allow my arms to flop wide open to the sides…. Thus stretching open the rib cage …for me it helped but I can see others have said not to stretch so I would say go carefully and listen to your body we are all different after all. The other thing that greatly helped was a muscle relaxant I used diazepam.

All the best
