The only cure for gallstones and bile duct stones is surgery, I'm afraid; unless you know of someone who can use ultrasound to break them up. It was quite a common treatment of those and also bladder and kidney stones about 40 years ago, but I haven't heard of it for a long time.

I had my gall bladder removed in 2006; day patient only, very little pain, but must be careful to not lift too much for a few weeks until scars heal. You will also need a low fat diet for a few weeks.

Unfortunately I herniated my scar, but I am not in a great deal of trouble from it.

Cheers, Midori

Hi, I’ve experienced this. I recommend fasting. You may need to have an endoscopy to push out any stones stuck in the bile duct. I can’t see any other way of moving these stones. You need to see a gastroenterologist urgently. When this happened to me I was in agony and continually vomiting.

I have had numerous endoscopic procedures and they have cleaned out the bile ducts. They have put in stents and removed them a few times. I'm in the process of my third surgery to remove the temporary stents and hopefully put in permanent stents. I'm just hoping its going to help me to find some relief from pain and nausea. I am now wondering if diet changes would help but nothing seems to fix this. Any suggestions are appreciated, I will try anything.

Hi, I am so sorry to hear this. I recommend bone broth and keeping to liquids. You can make up a bone broth using leg of lamb and veggies, strain out the liquid part which you drink. And blend down the veg part into soup. This would be enough for a weeks worth of food and very nutritional. I assume you may have already lost weight due to your illness? I lost a lot of weight when I had similar problems. But fasting is also good. Make sure to take salt to prevent cramps. Giving up caffeine and sticking to water may help. Wishing you some respite from your painful condition.
